AIIP welcomes abrdn as its newest member
The Association of Infrastructure Investors in Public Private Partnerships ("AIIP") has welcomed abrdn plc’s Concession Infrastructure investment platform (“abrdn”) as its newest member. abrdn is a global investment company and asset manager and it manages over £4.0bn of global investment funds dedicated to PFI/PPP concession infrastructure. The addition of abrdn takes the AIIP member share of the PFI market by total capital value of the assets owned by investment funds to almost 65%.
The AIIP was launched in October 2023 by several of the major international infrastructure investors in UK infrastructure assets under the Public Private Partnerships model. The AIIP was established to provide one voice for the UK PPP investor market and is the first time infrastructure investment funds have come together in the UK in this way.
Michael Donn, Director of abrdn, commented:
"abrdn are acutely aware of the importance of its public sector infrastructure assets. With hand-back looming it’s key that the public/private partnership approach demonstrates it can deliver to meet all stakeholders’ expectations. As the newest AIIP member, we look forward to joining the wider debate and the delivery of successful asset transfers back to the public sector."
Lord John Hutton, Chair of the AIIP, commented:
"I am delighted that the AIIP is extending its membership and the addition of abrdn means that the AIIP has an even greater voice to face common challenges and deliver the vital reforms needed to improve industry standards ahead of PFI hand-back and expiry."
