The Association of Infrastructure Investors in Public Private Partnerships (AIIP)
Who We Are
The voice of Britain’s infrastructure investors in Public Private Partnerships (PPPs).
Founded in 2023, we bring together major investors to build stronger infrastructure, smarter partnerships, and sustainable public services across the UK. With significant oversight of Britain’s PFI portfolio, our members coordinate directly with central stakeholders, including the UK Government, the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA), and government departments.
Our Mission
To build infrastructure that serves people.
Our members invest in our public services and infrastructure - hospitals, schools, roads and rail projects across the country.
The AIIP bridges public and private sectors to ensure PPPs, including the UK’s Private Finance Initiative (PFI), deliver resilient and high-quality projects. By utilising private innovation, raising standards, and strengthening coordination with the Government, we future-proof British infrastructure for the common good.
Why is private finance critical today to rebuild Britain?
The UK is now a ‘low investment nation’: since 2000 investment has averaged 2.5% of GDP, less than two-thirds of the OECD average.
Almost every other Western country in the world uses a version of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) to build the hospitals and other public assets they need. Ironically, it was the UK which pioneered these, but no longer benefits from them. We want to change that.
What We Do
1
We promote excellence by sharing expertise to prioritise, plan, and hand back infrastructure projects under the PPP model.
2
We raise standards by working with public bodies and supply chain partners to advocate best practices to ensure collaboration, innovation, and improved performance.
3
We solve challenges by providing a forum to create and implement forward-looking and enduring solutions, rooted in the commercial and contracting principles of PPPs.
